Esther M. Terry Award
Established in honor of Dr. Esther M. Terry who, among many other accomplishments, helped to establish the W.E.B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies in 1969. The purpose of the Esther M. Terry Award recognizes outstanding academic work by Ph.D. candidates in the W.E.B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies who have completed their dissertation and their defense and made a notable contribution to the unfolding study of Afro-American life and letters. Recipients will demonstrate academic excellence and service to the field of Afro-American Studies and to the Afro-American community.
*Please note this that this award requires a letter of nomination from a faculty member in the W.E.B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies.
