Japanese Internship Scholarship

The Japanese Internship Scholarship supports Japanese majors at UMass Amherst in gaining valuable work experience in Japan, helping them secure positions post-graduation that utilize their understanding, knowledge, and skills developed during their studies.

This scholarship can be applied toward essential expenses such as airfare, housing, and food for internships lasting at least one month in Japan that provide minimal or no compensation.

Eligibility extends to students majoring in Japanese as a primary or secondary major. Applicants must demonstrate how the internship aligns with their academic or career goals, maintain good academic standing, and exhibit financial need.

Upon returning, awardees must submit a report about their experience and grant permission for the Japanese program to use their images on its website, social media, and promotional materials.
